Spring

I wake up to the sounds of spring:

The shrill music of faraway birds,

The muffled roar of cars and bikes

Speeding endlessly toward unknown destinations.

I hear the wind as it enters my bedroom window,

And the rustle of the curtain gives notice of the intruder.

Good and Evil

Unaware of nature’s plight,

In a natural delight,

The bald eagle takes up flight.

Heaven smiles at the flyer,

At his golden plumes of fire,

As he dares up higher, higher.

Gusts of wind rise up to meet him;

Earth itself awakes to greet him;

But the warrior’s face is grim.

Now the balance stands molested

By the hands of men untested

And a greediness unrested.

Now we see a slow upheaval,

And we watch a slow retrieval,

As the good becomes pure evil.
